The Stakeholder Map Bavaria-Africa provides a visualization of projects and partnerships of institutions in Africa and Bavaria in the field of science, research and innovation. Projects and partnerships cover a wide range of thematic areas. Institutions entail universities, universities of applied sciences, research institutions, companies, international organisations, civil society organisations, amongst others. The map is a living and open project. You can register your insitution and/or cooperation in the field of science, research, and innovation with Africa and Bavaria to be displayed in the map.

The aim of the Scientific Coordination Office Bavaria-Africa (WKS Bayern-Afrika) is to deepen cooperation between Bavaria and Africa in science, research and innovation. In doing so, it supports both the Bavarian course to develop long-term partnerships across Africa – and the European course – which seeks closer cooperation between the European Union and Africa.

To achieve this goal, WKS Bavaria-Africa on behalf of the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) aims to provide an overview of networks and activities of Bavarian institutions in science, research and innovation on the African continent. In addition, BayFOR provides targeted training for African and Bavarian institutions on the rules of participation in EU funding programmes and the administrative project management of research projects in order to initiate joint cooperation projects in science, research and innovation. The Scientific Coordination Office Bavaria-Africa developed this map for visualizing existing cooperations in the field of science, research and innovation between African and Bavarian organisations from academia, the public and private sector, and civil society. We wish to promote ties in science, research, and innovation between Africa and Bavaria. The map brings together institutions with activities in Africa and Bavaria, serves as an inspiration for institutions interested in cooperation, and provides a network and contacts in research and innovation in the African and Bavarian context.

By registering your cooperation you will contribute to the open project and to the objective of enhancing activities in science, research, and innovation between Africa and Bavaria. Your cooperation will gain free-of-charge visibility among other stakeholders in the field and can serve as an example for other institutions with similar aspirations in cooperating with Bavaria and Africa.

Any institution in Africa and Bavaria with activities in science, research, and innovation can register their cooperation free-of-charge. The activities can cover any thematic focus. Instituions are not limited to a specific sector or size.

Yes, you can still register for the map! As long as you have a regular exchange with a Bavarian or African partner in the field of science, research, and innovation, you are welcome to register your institution. Your institution will be visible on the map – but without a connection to a specific project or partnership.

You can register any activity in the field of science, research, and innovation with an African or Bavarian partner. If you wish to register business relations, they must entail a very intergral part in the field of innovation to be considered eligible for the map. Mere business cooperations are not eligible.

After sending your registration form, we will assess the eligibility of your institution and cooperation for the map. This will take some working days. In case of questions, we will get in touch with you to make sure the information on your institution and collaboration is correctly displayed.

Yes, you can still register your institution which is not in Bavaria or Africa if you have a cooperation in the field of science, reseach and innovation with an African and Bavarian partner. Your institution outside Africa and Bavaria will be displayed on the map. But the country of your institution will not be marked in a blue colour, if it is not a country in Africa.
