HyREC²A: Sustainable Energy Partnerships in the Water-Energy-Food Nexus

The HyREC²A project aims to build sustainable cooperation between universities, NGOs, and industry partners in Bavaria and South Africa, focusing on renewable energy solutions within the Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus. It supports joint research in the Western Cape region to improve energy security, groundwater availability, and agricultural efficiency through decentralized hybrid energy systems, agri-photovoltaics, and bioenergy. Additionally, the project develops a shared teaching module using the COIL approach to promote international learning on renewable energy in WEF systems.
