HySecunda – Scalable Solutions for Green Hydrogen Production in Southern Africa

HySecunda is a Fraunhofer-led research project that develops scalable technological solutions for the production, storage, certification, and market integration of green hydrogen and its derivatives in Southern Africa. The project supports the market ramp-up of a sustainable hydrogen economy by combining applied research, innovation in materials and energy systems, and capacity building.

A key focus is the development of cost-efficient and reliable hydrogen technologies, as well as certification frameworks and training programs tailored to regional needs. HySecunda also contributes to large-scale initiatives such as hydrogen-based sustainable aviation fuels and aims to strengthen long-term energy partnerships between Africa and Europe.
