PEP4LEP 2.0 – Chemoprohylaxis for leprosy: comparing the effectiveness and feasibility of a community-based intervention to a health centre-based intervention in Ethiopia, Mozambique, and Tanzania.

The PEP4LEP 2.0 study builds upon the EDCTP2-PEP4LEP project to identify the most effective intervention to screen individuals for leprosy, other skin neglected infectious diseases (skinNIDs) and common skin diseases, and to provide SDR-PEP. The study takes place in leprosy high-endemic areas in Ethiopia, Tanzania and Mozambique. Its aim is to determine which intervention has most effect on leprosy case finding and detection delay.   The methods used will include one community-based and one health center-based intervention. In this project, approximately 30,000 contacts of people affected by leprosy will be screened, the results aiming to help implementing skin screening and SDR-PEP into national and international leprosy routine care guidelines.
