Readiness of ICOS for Necessities of integrated Global Observations

The project “Readiness of ICOS for Necessities of Integrated Global Observations” (RINGO) aims to further develop the ICOS Research Infrastructure and strengthen its long-term sustainability. It focuses on improving readiness across five key areas: scientific, geographical, technological, data-related, and political/administrative.

Scientifically, the project enhances and consolidates observational networks to improve their quality and position ICOS as a key European component in global greenhouse gas monitoring. Geographically, it supports the expansion of ICOS membership by helping new countries build national consortia, offering consultancy, and providing training for researchers. Technologically, RINGO works on advancing and standardizing measurement technologies to meet evolving scientific needs. In terms of data, it aims to improve data accessibility and adapt data streams to modern web standards and user requirements. Politically and administratively, the project strengthens global cooperation among observational infrastructures to increase societal impact.
