SUstainable and REconfigurable ROBots for green manufacturing – SureROB

Efficient and safe manufacturing systems hinge on collaboration between software and hardware experts. In robotics, however, thereโ€™s often a gap between computer scientists and end-users interacting with the hardware. With the support of the Marie Skล‚odowska-Curie Actions programme, the SureROB project aims to improve green manufacturing by developing sustainable collaborative robots (CoBots) for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). With a consortium of academic and industrial partners from seven countries, the project focuses on reducing the weight of robot components by 20 % to lower energy consumption while ensuring reliability. It will optimise designs, implement vibration control, and evaluate solutions against benchmarks. The project endeavours to make technology economically viable and eco-friendly, sharing results to promote open science.
